A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN
COUNTY, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF TEXAS
TO ACCEPT, IF AWARDED, A TOBACCO COMPLIANCE GRANT AWARD; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the citizens of the City of Allen to actively prevent access of tobacco
products to the youth of the community; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Allen believes that through tobacco education, tobacco retailer inspections, and through
the enforcement of tobacco laws, the access of tobacco available to minors can be drastically reduced; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Allen has agreed to the conditions outlined in the Tobacco Compliance Grant; and has
agreed to accept the (rant, if awarded, in an amount not to exceed 56,000; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Allen agrees that in the event of loss or misuse of the Tobacco Compliance Grant funds,
the City of Allen assures that the Grant Funds will be returned to the State of Texas m full.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The City of Allen approves the acceptance, if awarded, of the Tobacco Compliance Grant,
sponsored through the State of Texas for the purpose of reducing access to tobacco by rumors.
' SECTION 2. This Resolution shall become effective immediately from and after its passage.
DULY PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN
COUNTY, TEXAS, ON THIS THE 13TH DAY OF MAY, 2003.
