R-2121-12-02RESOLUTION NO. 2121-12-02(R) ' A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, RELATNG TO ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COOPERATION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, a strong, diverse and vibrant economy is essential for the health and welfare of the people of Collin County, and; WHEREAS, a strong economy provides the jobs which support our people, other businesses and local government, and; WHEREAS, the tax revenues generated by commercial and industrial development is essential to supporting a high level of municipal services for the achievement of a high quality of life for the residents of Allen at a reasonable cost, and; WHEREAS, the county of Collin County is made up of 30 individual towns and cities linked together by people, jobs, highways, utilities, and geography, and; WHEREAS, the strength of the county of Collin County depends upon the strength of each of its municipalities. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, ' COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, THAT; SECTION 1: The City Council is committed to the pursuit of responsible economic development within .the City of Allen. SECTION 2: The City Council is committed to carrying out its role in developing the local economy in a highly professional, honest and effective manner through its actions, those of the Allen development corporation, commissions and agencies, and the actions of the paid staff. SECTION 3: The City Council believes that all cities within the county of Collin County should commit to an ethical practice of not pursuing private, direct solicitation of companies to move from one city to another within the county. The City Council realizes, however, that companies move for a variety of reasons, sometimes within the same county. Therefore, the City Council does support a city's decision to respond to solicitations or requests for proposals made directly by a company and/or thein representative seeking economic incentives when relocation will result in the retention or creation ofjobs or increased wealth to the state. SECTION 4: This resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage.
