' A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN
COUNTY, TEXAS, DESIGNATING THE ALLEN AMERICAN THE OFFICIAL
NEWSPAPER OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, FOR
FY 2002-2003; AUTHORIZING ITS EXECUTION BY THE CITY SECRETARY;
AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Section 52.004 of the Local Government Code provides that the city council shall, as soon as
practical after the beginning of each municipal year, contract with a public newspaper of the city to be the
official newspaper until another is selected; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Allen desires to officially designate the official public
newspaper of the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Allen hereby designates The Allen American, a public
newspaper in and of the City of Allen, Collin County, Texas, as the official newspaper of said City, the
same to continue as such until another is selected, and shall cause to be published therein all ordinances,
notices and other matters required by law or by ordinance to be published.
' SECTION 2: The City Secretary is hereby given authority to contract with The Allen American for said
newspaper to become the official newspaper of the City of Allen.
SECTION 3: This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage.
DULY PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, ON THIS THE lOTM DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 2002.

Dear Darla:
The City of Allen wishes to renew its current contractwith the Allen
American for the publication of legal notices at the rate of $6.00 per column
inch. The current contract expires on September 30, 2002.
Please consider this letter m an option for a one-year renewal of the legal
contract stated above. If you accept the extension of $6.00 per column inch
for legal notices, please sign below and return a copy of this letter to me at
your earliest convenience.
For your information, enclosed is a copy of Allen City Council Resolution
No. 2085-9-02(R) designating the Allen American as the official newspaper
of the City of Allen for Fiscal Year 2002-03.
