R-2051-5-02RESOLUTION NO. 2051.54)2(R) ' A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, ADOPTING THE SIX CITIES TRAIL PLAN, SUPPORTING COOPERATIVE DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIES; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, during the last sixteen (16) years, the City staff has participated in meetings among cities of the Rowlett Creek watershed; and, WHEREAS, the focus has been on water quality and securing control of the Rowlett Creek Corridor for a cooperative regional trail system; and, WHEREAS, the City of Allen has ownership of land along Rowlett Creek from city limit to city limit; and, WHEREAS, in a recent legislative session, funding was put in place for Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to consider grant requests for trails that have regional significance and involve multi jurisdictions; and, WHEREAS, the Cities of Allen, Frisco, Garland, McKinney, Plano, and Richardson hired consultant Halff Associates, hrc. to study the corridor and explore other opportunities for regional linkages; and, WHEREAS, such study encompasses the six Cities along the Rowlett Creek corridor, some 27 miles of hail opportunities; sties; and ' WHEREAS, the plan includes planning guidelines that legitimize regional grant requests and is the County's fust multijurisdictional "long range" trail plan; and, WHEREAS, the North Central Texas Council of Governments, Collin County, Dallas County, and TxDOT participated in the planning; and, WHEREAS, the Allen Parks and Recreation Commission has reviewed the plan and recommends the City Council adopt the Regional Trail Plan. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Allen, Collin County, Texas hereby adopts the Six Cities Trail Plan, a copy of which is on file in the office of the City Secretary. SECTION 2. The City of Allen, Collin County, Texas will cooperate inter jurisdictionally for the good of connecting each city by way of pedestrian trails, and seek cooperative development strategies. SECTION 3. This resolution shall become effective immediately from and after its passage.
