' A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN
COUNTY, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF TEXAS,
TO ACCEPT THE COPS MORE 2001 AWARD; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Allen, its Police Department and its citizens to actively work
towards the prevention of criminal offenses through Community Policing efforts; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Allen believes that through Community Policing crime can be reduced within the City
of Allen thus providing for a better quality of life for its residents and visitors; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Allen Police Department has been awarded a COPS MORE 2001 Grant through
the United States Department of Justice for the purpose of increasing our Community Policing efforts and
lowering crime in our community; and,
WHEREAS, the COPS MORE 2001 Grant will provide for the technology and equipment necessary for the
Police Department to increase Community Policing efforts; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Allen has agreed to the conditions outlined in the COPS MORE 2001 Grant; and has
agreed to accept the grant, in the amount of $268,763, with matching funds of approximately $89,588; and,
WHEREAS, the Cityof Allen agrees that in the event of loss or misuse of the COPS MORE 2001Crrant fmrds,
' the City of Allen assures that the funds will be returned to the United States Department of Justice in fiill.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The City of Allen approves the acceptance of the COPS MORE 2001 Grant, sponsored through the
United States Department of Justice for the purpose of increasing Community Policing efforts and reducing crime in
our community.
SECTION 2. This Resolution shall become effective immediately from and after its passage.

COUNTY, TEXAS, ON THIS THE lsr DAY OF NOVEMBER, 2001.
