R-1944-5-01RESOLUTION NO. 1944-5-01(R) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, SUPPORTING THE CITY OF MCIONNEY IN ITS EFFORTS TO INVEST IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE MCEINNEY MUNICIPAL AIRPORT; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, all modes of transportation, including private and corporate aircraft, are critical to the continued economic growth and economic health of the North Texas region; and, WHEREAS, the McKinney Municipal Airport can safely accommodate the landing of any size corporate jet; and, WHEREAS, the McKinney Municipal Airport has been cited by companies relocating to the area as a major factor in their decision to locate here; and, WHEREAS, the McKinney Municipal Airport is used on a regular or intermittent basis by many corporations in the North Texas area; and, WHEREAS, the economic benefits provided by the McKinney Municipal Airport through its corporate business tenants and users help increase the tax base, relieve the residential tax burden, and provide funding for roads, parks, schools and police for area cities, counties and school districts; and, ' WHEREAS, space for expansion of corporate aircraft facilities is limited at other developed airports in the North Dallas area; and, WHEREAS, the investment in airport improvements by the City of McKinney, the Federal Aviation Administration and the Texas Department of Transportation, including installation of Instrument Landing Systems and TARDIS Radar System, implementation of US Customs Service, construction of an on -Airport Fire Station equipped with Crash Fire Rescue capabilities, and expansion of ramps and other infrastructure has created a modem, safe and advanced airport facility; and, WHEREAS, the McKinney Municipal Airport was named as the State's "Outstanding Reliever Airport of the Year" by the Texas Department of Transportation in 1999. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1: The City of Allen supports the McKinney Municipal Airport's twenty-year growth plan to expand and improve the facility to create new jobs and opportunities for McKinney, other area cities, and Collin County. SECTION 2: The City Secretary shall forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the City of McKinney, P. O. Box 517, McKinney, Texas 75070-0517. SECTION 3: This resolution shall become effective from and after its passage.
