R-1798-1-00' A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN
COUNTY, TEXAS, APPROVING AN UPDATED WATER DISTRIBUTION
SYSTEM MASTER PLAN, COMPLETED IN 1999 BY THE FIRM OF SHIMEK,
JACOBS & FINKLEA, L.L.P.
WHEREAS, water system maintenance and expansion is a core function of City government; and,
WHEREAS, the planning area for this report is consistent with Allen's anticipated ultimate City limits;
and,
WHEREAS, this replaces the 1955 Water Master Plan; and,
WHEREAS, the projected population is based on information in the City's 1998 Comprehensive Plan and
Land Use Assumptions; and potential residential and commercial demands for water have been considered;
and,
WHEREAS, the size of water mains is based on water demand throughout the system during the maximum
hour period, and refill rates of the elevated storage is based on the minimum hourly demand on the day of
maximum demand; and,
WHEREAS, this Plan was presented to the Allen City Council on January 6, 2000.
' NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1: City staff, engineers and developers will follow the Master Plan in designing extensions of
infrastructure in future projects.
SECTION 2: City staff, prior to undertaking a major expenditure, will examine and determine that the
design criteria used in developing the overall plan is still valid.
