R-1799-1-00RESOLUTION NO. 1799-1—DO(R) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACT FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF ALLEN IN APPLYING TO THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS INFRASTRUCTURE FUND BOARD FOR A TECHNOLOGY ADVANCEMENT GRANT, AND CERTIFYING THAT THE CITY OF ALLEN WILL COMPLY WITH THE REGULATIONS, GUIDELINES AND REQUIREMENTS OF SAID PROGRAM. WHEREAS, the Telecommunications Infrastructure Fund Board has announced the availability of approximately $29 million in grants to address the needs of Texas public libraries with inadequate Internet connectivity; and, WHEREAS, the City of Allen wishes to apply for a Technology Advancement Grant in the amount of approximately $64,000; and, WHEREAS, the City of Allen wishes to encourage the use of library and information resources by the public; and, WHEREAS, the Allen Public Library has been found to lack adequate Internet connectivity ' NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Allen hereby authorizes the City Manager to represent and act for the City of Allen in dealing with the Telecommunications Infrastructure Fund Board for the purpose of this grant program. The City Manager is hereby officially designated as the City's representative in this regard. SECTION 2: The City Council hereby certifies that the City of Allen is eligible to receive funding under the Technology Advancement Grant for the Texas Public Libraries. SECTION 3: The City Council hereby certifies that if the grant is awarded that the City of Allen will authorize funding in an amount equal to at least 10% of the grant award in matching funds.
