ORDINANCE NO. 1563-12-97
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ALIEN, COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS,
CHANGING THE NAME OF STATE DRIVE AND FEDERAL DRIVE TO
CENTRAL EXPRESSWAY WITHIN THE BORDERS OF THE CITY OF
ALIEN; AMENDING ALL ORDINANCES OR PORTIONS OF ORDINANCES
IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the reconstruction of Central Expressway within the city limits of the City of Allen has
necessitated the removal of separate and specific names for the access roads, being State Drive and
Federal Drive; and,
WHEREAS, 911 regulations allow for all businesses and residents along this roadway to be addressed
as Central Expressway North or Central Expressway South; and,
WIERREAS, all businesses now locating along this roadway are being assigned addresses consistent with
the name Central Expressway; and,
WHEREAS, the residents living along this roadway have been notified of this change; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Allen, Texas, deems it appropriate to eliminate the street
names State Drive and Federal Drive and use Central Expressway North and Central Expressway South
as the official street name for these access roads; and
WFIEREAS, the dividing line between north and south shall be determined to be McDermott Drive for
Central Expressway; and,
' WHEREAS, existing address numbers will remain except in the case of 701 S. Federal Drive, which will
be changed to 100 Central Expressway North.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1: The street named State Drive and the street currently named Federal Drive, within the
limits of the City of Allen, are by these presents hereby officially changed and redesignated as "Central
Expressway." Addresses shall be suffixed with either North or South, depending on whether the property
is located north or south of McDermott Drive.
SECTION 2: As a result of this change, the City of Allen will provide for notification of said change
and redesignation to all public utilities and postal authorities.
SEC ION1 All ordinances or portions of ordinances of the City of Allen in conflict with the
provisions of this ordinance are hereby amended to conform to the provisions of this ordinance.
SECTION 4: This ordinance shall take effect January 1, 1998, and it is accordingly so ordained.
