A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN
COUNTY, TEXAS, REQUESTING THAT A PORTION OF FM 2170, FROM CUSTER
ROAD (FM 2478) TO SH 5, THROUGH THE CITY OF ALLEN BE REMOVED FROM
THE STATE NETWORK OF FARM TO MARKET ROADS, AND BE TRANSFERRED
TO THE CITY OF ALLEN.
WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the need for the reconstruction of FM 2170 through the City of
Allen; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council appreciates the efforts of the Texas Department of Transportation for past
maintenance of FM 2170 through the City of Allen, and the traffic signals added to Allen Drive; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council appreciates the efforts of the Texas Highway Commission in helping the city
attempt to secure funding of this project of FM 2170 through the City of Allen in the 1997 Transportation
Improvement Program (TIP); and,
WHEREAS, State and Federal funding could not be obtained, resulting in the City of Allen and the County
of Collin funding the needed improvements, designing the project, obtaining the ROW;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS THAT:
SECTION 1: The city requests that the portion of FM 2170 between Custer Road (FM 2478) and State
Highway 5 be removed from the State network of farm to market roads, and be transferred to the City of Alten.
SECTION 2: The city requests that TXDOT allow the City of Allen to bid out the project in June, 1997
and allow physical work to commence in September, 1997.
