O-96-4-70CITY OF ALLEN, TEXAS, ORDINANCE NO. 96 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING THAT A PORTION OF BURCH DRIVE AND BELMONT STREET IN THE CITY OF ALLEN, TEXAS, BE LIMITED TO ONE WAY TRAFFIC: PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS ORDINANCE: PROVIDING FOR A MAXIMUM FINE OF UP TO TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE: AND PUBLICATION OF THE CAPTION HEREOF: WHEREAS, the public safety of the residents of the City of Allen requires that traffic in the City proceed in an orderly and reasonable manner, and WHEREAS, the portions of Burch Drive and Belmont Street hereinafter described are often congested so that the chance of accidents or injuries are substantial, and WHEREAS, if the below described portions of Burch Drive and Belmont Street were one way streets, the public safety of the residents of Allen would be served, NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN: SECTION ONE: That Burch Drive from its intersection with Main Street to its intersection with Belmont Drive in the City of Allen be changed from a two way thoroughfare to a one way street proceeding in a southerly direction. SECTION TWO: That Belmont Street from its inter- section with Burch Drive to its intersection with Cedar Drive in the City be changed from a two way thoroughfare to a one way street proceeding in an easterly direction. SECTION THREE: That after the effective date of this ordinance, described below, any person who shall drive his vehicle of transportation in the wrong direction on I the one way streets shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and may be fined any sum not to exceed two hundred dollars. SECTION POUR: That the caption of this ordinance shall be published at least ten days in a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Allen, upon completion of which this ordinance shall be effective.
