R-3802-2-21 RESOLUTION NO.3802-02-21(R)
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN
COUNTY, TEXAS, PROVIDING FOR A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE ALLEN
HERITAGE GUILD TO THE ALLEN PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Allen has had a long-standing, positive relationship with the Allen Heritage Guild
("AHG") as evidenced by the City's support of several initiatives championed by the AHG; and,
WHEREAS, the AHG is a non-profit organization under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)3 whose core
mission is to preserve and promote the history of Allen; and,
WHEREAS,in 2020,the AHG Ad Hoc Heritage Village Committee provided recommendations that included
the City of Allen review and update the Heritage Village Master Plan,fund completion of the Heritage Village,
formalize the transition of Heritage Village operations to Allen Parks and Recreation Department, provide a
future City staff resource to the Heritage Village upon completion of construction, and that the City Parks and
Recreation Board include representation from the AHG President or designee; and,
WHEREAS,the City Council desires to provide that the AHG President or designee serve as a representative
to the Allen Parks and Recreation Board to elevate the mission of the AHG to a wider audience, acknowledge
the Heritage Village as an asset of the broader Allen Parks system and further the working relationship between
the City of Allen and the Allen Heritage Guild.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
COLLIN COUNTY,TEXAS,THAT:
SECTION 1. The Allen Heritage Guild President or designee shall serve as a representative to the City Parks
and Recreation Board.The AHG President or designee shall be entitled to attend and participate in meetings of
the City Parks and Recreation Board but shall not be entitled to vote or count towards a quorum of such Board.
SECTION 2. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage.
