The called - special session of the Allen City Council
was called to order by Mayor Rodenbaugh at 7:00 p.m. on
Thursday, April 9, 1987, in the Council Chambers of the
Allen Municipal Annex, One Butler Circle, Allen, Texas.
Canvass of Election Returns
from the City Council Election -

City Secretary Marty Hendrix reviewed for the City
Council
the election returns for the City Council Election held
on
Saturday, April 4, 1987. Ms. Hendrix advised that 329
votes
were cast at the polling place and eleven (11) votes at
the
absentee polling and pointed out the following results:

Resolution of the City Council
of the City of Allen, Collin
County, Texas, Declaring the
Results of the General Election
of the Allen City Council Held
on April 4, 1987.
(Agenda Item II -B)
City Secretary Marty Hendrix advised the Council that the
proposed resolution showed the total cumulative votes cast in the
election, being 329, with the following individuals being
declared to receive the highest number of votes:
Joe Farmer - Councilman - Place No. 1
Robert L. (Bobby) Glass - Councilman - Place No. 3
Jim Pendleton - Councilman - Place No. 5
MOTION: Upon a motion made by Councilman Wolfe and seconded
by Councilman Pennington, the Council voted 5 - 0
to approve and adopt Resolution No. 789-4-87(R), as
captioned above. The motion carried.
Oaths -of -Office to Re -Elected
Council Members and Newly
Elected Council Member (Agenda Item II -C)
and
Certificates of Election Results
City Secretary Marty Hendrix administered the oaths -of -
office to the re-elected Council Member in Place No. 5, being
Jim Pendleton, and to the newly elected Council Member in
Place No. 3, being Robert L. (Bobby) Glass. Re-elected
Councilman in Place No. 1, Joe Farmer, was not present to
receive his oath -of -office at this time.
Mayor Rodenbaugh presented to those Council Members their
Certificates of Election and offered congratulations to those
individuals.
At this time, Councilman Bobby Glass took his place on
the Council bench.

Election of Mayor Pro Tem (Agenda Item II -D)
Mayor Rodenbaugh opened the floor for nominations to
Mayor Pro Tem.
MOTION: Upon a motion made by Councilman Jim Pendleton and
seconded by Councilman Jerry Wilson, the Council voted
6 - 0 to nominate and elect by acclamation Joe Farmer
to the position of Mayor Pro Tem of the Allen City
Council. The motion carried.
At this time Mayor Rodenbaugh advised the Council of
the progress of the city's request for Extended Area Service
in the hearings that were being held in Austin. Mayor Rodenbaugh
advised the Council of his conversations with the City Manager
Jon McCarty and of some of the issues that had been addressed
in the hearing today. This item was received as a matter of
information.
Adjournment

MOTION: Upon a motion made by Councilman Jack Pennington and
seconded by Councilman Jerry Wilson, the Council voted
6 - 0 to adjourn the called - special session of the
Allen City Council at 7:13 p.m. The motion carried.
