Committee Members: Present: Steve Benson, Chair Susan Barry Ann Carroll Tod Raines Sandy Wittsche Absent: Jane Bennett Denise Gilbert City Staff. Laum Cuellar, Park Planner, Parks and Recreation Jennifer Robinson, Support Specialist, Parks and Recreation Call to Order and Announce a Quorum is Present ' With a quorum of the committee members present, the regular meeting of the Public Art Committee was called to order by Chair Benson at 6:01 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 in the Parks and Recreation Conference Room, Municipal Courts, Parks and Recreation Building, 301 Century Parkway, Allen, Texas 75013. Action Items 1. Approve minutes from the May 16, 2017 Regular Meeting MOTION: Upon a motion made by committee member Barry and seconded by committee member Carroll, the committee voted five (5) for and none (0) opposed to accept minutes from the May 16, 2017 regular meeting as presented. 2. Recommend Project and Establish Budget for Windridge Park Seating Wall Project The Committee discussed the possibility of using an artist in residence and also reviewed pricing information received on other mural projects. After discussion, the following motion was brought forward. MOTION: Upon a motion made by committee member Carroll and seconded by committee member Raines, the committee voted five (5) for and none (0) opposed to approve a Call to Artists for an artist in residence, with a preference to Texas Touring Artists, to work with students to design and install a mural on the seating wall at Windridge Park and establish a project budget of $10,000. 1 PUBLIC ART COMMITTE REGULAR MEETING JULY 18, 2017 ' Discussion Items 3. Update on Current Projects The fabrication and installation contract has been executed for the artwork at Spirit Park and a Notice to Proceed has been issued. Everything is moving forward as it should and the primary focus of city staff is providing information needed to the artist for the interpretive signs. On the GCAA project, landscaping is being installed on the lane expansion/reconfiguration project for US75 and that portion of the project is nearing completion. A Conceptual/Master Plan proposal has been approved for the Allen Drive round -about. Council awarded the contract for the construction of Windridge Park to North Rock Construction on July 11, 2017. Construction is anticipated to begin early August and take approximately 120 days, making the seating wall project available to begin installation in December. 4. Discussion on Future Projects The proposal for evaluating the space for considerations of artwork at Allen Event Center was shared with the Committee. After discussion regarding scope of work and pricing, the Committee would like to see an action item on next month's agenda. 5. Board Evaluation Discussion Committee members provided comments and a collective form will be compiled and submitted to the City Secretary's Office. ' 6.
