Min - Public Art Committee - 2017 - 08/15 - Regular' PUBLIC ART COMMITTEE REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 15, 2017 - 6:00 P.M. Committee Members: Present: Steve Benson, Chair Susan Barry Jane Bennett Denise Gilbert Sandy Wittsche Absent: Arm Carroll Tod Raines City Staff: Matt McComb, Landscape Architect, Parks and Recreation Jennifer Robinson, Support Specialist, Parks and Recreation Call to Order and Announce a Quorum is Present ' With a quorum of the committee members present, the regular meeting of the Public Art Committee was called to order by Chair Benson at 6:05 p.m. on Tuesday, August 15, 2017, in the Parks and Recreation Conference Room, Municipal Courts, Parks and Recreation Building, 301 Century Parkway, Allen, Texas 75013. 1. Approve Minutes from the July 18, 2017 Regular Meeting MOTION: Upon a motion made by committee member Barry and seconded by committee member Bennett, the committee voted five (5) for and none (0) opposed to accept minutes from the July 18, 2017 regular meeting as presented. 2. Make a Recommendation to the Parks and Recreation Director Regarding an Expenditure for a Space Evaluation at the Allen Event Center Rotunda The Committee discussed the preference of having the consultant review the final concept drawings and possibly serve as an advisory member of the selection panel. After discussion, the following motion was brought forward. MOTION: Upon a motion made by committee member Bary and seconded by committee member Bennett, the committee voted five (5) for and none (0) opposed to recommend to the Parks and Recreation Director an expenditure for a space ' evaluation at the Allen Event Center provided that the consult provides further consultation and also reviews the artist submissions at the time of selection of a finalist. PUBLIC ART COMMITTE REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 15, 2017 Discussion Items 3. Review Draft Artist Call for Windridge Seating Wall Project The Comrtdttee reviewed the Call to Artist for the Windridge Seating Wall Project and made a few minor updates. 4. Update on Current Projects The fabrication and installation contract has been executed for the artwork at Spirit Park and a Notice to Proceed has been issued. Everything is moving forward as it should and the primary focus of city staff is providing information needed to the artist for the interpretive signs. Staff is still waiting on TXDot approval to move forward with the GCAA project. 5. Discussion on Future Projects No additional projects were discussed other than the previous motion to move forward with the Allen Event Center Space Evaluation. 6.
