With a quorum of the Counctlmembers and Board members present, the Joint Meeting of the Allen City
Council and the Allen Independent School District Board of Trustees was called to order by Mayor Farmer and
President Andrew at 7:08 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 1994, in the Allen Public Library, Two Allen Civic Plaza,
Allen, Texas.

Consider Employment of Dr. Barbara Erwin as
Superintendent of Schools Beginning May 31. 1994 — Glenn Andrew (Agenda Item I -A)
A motion was made by Board member Chuck Williams and seconded by Board member Worley Stein
to authorize Dr. Barbara F Erwin's employment as Superintendent of Schools to begin on Tuesday, May 31,
1994. The motion carried unanimously
Report on Joint AISD/City Elections - Pat Campbell (Agenda Item II)
Pat Campbell, Secretary to the Superintendent of Schools, gave a report about the recent joint AISD/City
of Allen/Collin County Community College election conducted by the Collin County Elections Office. She stated
that everything went extremely well, with the exception of timeliness of receiving results and that school and city
administration would recommend that this procedure continue to be used in the future.
Economic Development Report - David Pitstick (Agenda Item III)
David Pitstick, Director of Economic Development, updated the Board of Trustees and City Council on
projects being handled by the Economic Development Alliance.
Land Development Projects - Bill Petty
(Agenda Item IV)
Bill Petty, Director of Community Development, presented information on land development projects.
Reports - Rhoda Savage (Agenda Item V)
Comprehensive Planning Project
and Land Located off Exchange Parkway
Joint School Park Sites
Rhoda Savage, Director of Parks and Recreation, and Bobby Curtis, Property Services Director, reviewed
the comprehensive planning project on land located off Exchange Parkway and plans to acquire joint school/city
park sites
Mayor Farmer and President Andrew agreed that their respective bodies would seek adoption of a joint
resolution establishing as policy the practice of the City and AISD to acquire and develop joint school/park sites.
Capital Improvement Proeram Planning - Mayor Farmer (Agenda Item VI)
Mayor Farmer made a detailed presentation on the City's Capital Improvement Program's plans for a
bond election to be held June 25, 1994

MOTION: Upon a motion made by Councilmember Hamner and seconded by Councilmember Bishop and
by Board member Williams and seconded by Board member Kerr, the City Council and the
Board voted unanimously to set the dates for the next three (3) joint meetings as follows:
Thursday, September 22, 1994
Thursday, January 26, 1995
Thursday, May 25, 1995

MOTION: Upon a motion made by Councilmember Bishop and seconded by Councilmember Nichols and
