Caplinger City Staff: With a quorum of the Councilmembers present, the Special Called Meeting of the Allen City Council was called to order by Mayor Terrell at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2012, in the Council Chambers of the Allen City Hall, 305 Century Parkway, Allen, Texas. Pledee of Alleeiance Consider All Matters Incident and Related to the Special Runoff Election Held on January 17. 2012. 1. Canvass of Election Returns. Ms. George reviewed for the City Council the election returns for the City Council Special Runoff Election of City Councilmember for Place No 6 She distributed and reviewed handout materials including early voting totals, Election Day totals, and the combined Election Day totals. She also reviewed voting statistics including 46,800 registered voters and 1,908 total votes, which indicated a 4.08% voter turnout. Any provisional ballots have been verified by the Election Day Voting Ballot Board and are included in the verified totals The totals verified the following results: Peter H. Vargas, City Manager Shelli Siemer, Assistant City Manager Wes Pierson, Assistant City Manager Shelley B. George, City Secretary Peter G. RESOLUTION NO. 3060-1-12(R): A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE SPECIAL RUNOFF ELECTION OF THE CITY OF ALLEN HELD JANUARY 17, 2012, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING A CITY COUNCILMEMBER FOR PLACE NO. 6; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE MOTION: Upon a motion by Councilmember Obermeyer and a second by Councilmember Caplinger, the Council voted five (5) for and none (0) opposed to approve Resolution No. 3060-1-12(R), as previously captioned, declaring the results of the January 17, 2012, Special Runoff Election. The motion carried. 3. Administration of Oath -of -Office and Presentation of Certificate -of -Election. City Secretary George administered the Oath -of -Office to newly elected Councilmember Baine Brooks, Place No. 6. Mayor Terrell presented the Certificate -of -Election to Councilmember Brooks and offered his congratulations to him. MOTION: Upon a motion made by Mayor Pro Tem Stout and a second by Councilmember Obermeyer, the Council voted five (5) for and none (0) opposed to adjourn the Special Called Meeting of the Allen City Council at 4:04 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2012.
