November 25, 1980
Present; Jerry Owens, Wendell HOusley, Ron
Workman, David Morgan, and Helen Johnson
I. Meeting was called to order by Wendell Housley.
II. A report was made by the Director to the Board on
the action taken by the Council on the Special
Board Meeting. The Council voted not to light
field #3 at Hillside and authorized an expenditure
of $22,837.00 from Parks and Recreation Dedica-
tion Funds for lighting Jupiter Road Ballfield
and to make Hillside electric connection. In the
interim time since the Council voted on this ex-
penditure, Texas, Power, and Light has come forward
with a proposal to bring the 208 volt, 3 phase
electrical connection to a point where the general
contractor will tkae the lines underground to his
switch panels at no extra cost to the City. This
will save the City $4,390.00 making the cost of
the expenditure of Park Funds $18,477.00.
III Director's report on construction projects:
A. All backstops have been completed.
B. Lighting is nearing completion.
C. Hillside II playground equipment is in
and being installed.
IV. The Director's reported on the FY 1980-81 budget.
V. By -Laws:
The Board agreed to wait on additional informa-
tion from other cities, then to review the
information as a joint body. A general dis-
cussion was made by the Board on the subject
of a Parks and Recreation Manual. A committee
was appointed to consider guidelines for facilities
utilization for interim use by the director and
with a view toward incorporation in the pro-
cedure manual. The committee appointed was Ron
Workman and Jerry Owens.
VI. Changed Meeting date to December 23, 1980 for the
Parks and Recreation Board.
