Park and Recreation Board
Special Meeting
June 11, 1981
Members Present: David Morgan, Ron Workman, Helen Johnson,
Jerry Owens, and Wendell Housley.
I. Meeting was called to order by David Morgan.
II. The Board reviewed and made changes to the development
of the Boards By -Laws. A motion was made to refer the
By -Laws back to the staff for rewriting with corrections.
Motion by Ron Workman, Second by Helen Johnson, Motion
carried 5 Yes 0 No.
III. The BOard was given a letter from Tom Johnson, Soccer
Commissioner,which stated the approximate number of
soccer fields (7) that would be required for the Fall
Soccer Season. In response to this letter, the staff gave
the Board a summary of the possible location of the fields
requested and the playing time restrictions that should
be played on these fields. The Board was also given the
the soccer goals available and what goals would be needed
for this Fall Season. There are twelve (12) various goals
available with two (2) goals needed for the fall leagues.
At the meeting, Tom Johnson came forward with a suggestion
that if all the liabilities and legal terms could be worked
out that it would be possible to utilize the Stan Itzkowitz
property north of Bethany Road. The Board requested the City
Manager and the Parks and Recreation Director to look into
this possible site and develope a cost/use study of the
site. The subject was asked to be developed farther at
the next regular Park and Recreation Board Meeting, June
25, 1981.
IV. Motion was made to adjourn by David Morgan, Second was
made by Jerry Owens. Motion carried 5 Yes 0 No.
