Call to Order and Announce a Quorum is Present
With a quorum of the committee members present,the regular meeting of the Public Art Committee was
called to order by Chair Benson at 6:01 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18,2018, in the Parks and
Recreation Conference Room of the Municipal Courts,Parks and Recreation Building, 301 Century
Parkway,Allen,Texas 75013.
Action Items
1. Approve Minutes from the Jule 17,2018 Regular Meeting
MOTION: Upon a motion made by committee member Bennett and seconded by committee
member Raines ,the Committee voted six(6)for and none(0)opposed to accept
minutes from the July 17,2018 regular meeting as presented.
2. Approve a Recommendation to City Council for the Artist Budget for the Future Allen
Event Center Public Art Project.
After discussion regarding available bond funding and costs of similar projects,the following
motion was presented.
MOTION: Upon a motion made by committee member Raines and seconded by committee
member Gilbert,the Committee voted seven(7)for and none(0)opposed to
approve a recommendation to City Council of$300,000 for the artist budget for
the future Allen Event Center Public Art Project.
Discussion Items
3. Review Call to Artists for Allen Event Center Rotunda
The Committee reviewed the draft call to artists for the project and provided feedback. Staff will
revise and post the call.A fmal draft will be shared with the Committee once complete.

4. Update on Current Projects
The Spirit Park art dedication will occur in conjunction with the park grand opening on the
evening of October 6. The artists will be onsite for the event and Committee members are
encouraged to attend if they are available.
Staff had nothing new to report on the GCAA project other than it is still scheduled to move
forward in early 2019.
5. Discussion on Future Projects
Discussion on future projects was tabled until current projects are further underway.

fundraisers, and awards)
