A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN
COUNTY, TEXAS, TO APPLY FOR, ACCEPT, REJECT, ALTER, OR
TERMINATE GRANT#3795301 FROM THE STATE OF TEXAS,OFFICE OF THE
GOVERNOR, CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION PROVIDING FUNDING FOR A
CRIMINALIST(CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATOR)POSITION TO BE ASSIGNED TO
THE ALLEN POLICE DEPARTMENT, IF AWARDED; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS,the City of Allen, and its police department, wishes to provide the highest level of services to all
residents and visitors and especially victims of crime; and,
WHEREAS,the City of Allen Police Department has recognized the need to add a third Criminalist position to
help with the processing of crime scene;and,
WHEREAS, the work of the Criminalist will assist greatly with the investigation of crimes, identification of
criminals and the successful prosecution of those who commit crimes in Allen;and,
WHEREAS,the City of Allen agrees to provide matching funds for the Criminalist position as it appears in the
grant application.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
COLLIN COUNTY,TEXAS,THAT:
SECTION 1. The City of Allen has agreed that in the event of loss or misuse of the Criminal Justice Division
Funds for the Criminalist Grant will be returned to the State of Texas,Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice
Division in full.
SECTION 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to apply for, accept,reject, alter,or terminate this grant
from the State of Texas,Office of the Governor,Criminal Justice Division to assist the City of Allen and the Allen
Police Department to fund an additional Criminalist position.
SECTION 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage in accordance with the
provisions of the Charter of the City of Allen,and it is accordingly so resolved.
