Call to Order and Announce a Quorum is Present
With a quorum of the committee members present,the regular meeting of the Public Art Committee was
called to order by Chair Raines at 6:03 p.m. on Tuesday,February 19,2019, in the Parks and Recreation
Conference Room of the Municipal Courts,Parks and Recreation Building, 301 Century Parkway,Allen,
Texas 75013.
Action Items
1. Approve Minutes from January 15,2019 Regular Meeting
MOTION: Upon a motion made by committee member Carroll and seconded by committee
member Bennett,the Committee voted five(5)for and none(0)opposed to
accept minutes from the January 15,2019 regular meeting as presented.
2. Approve Minutes from the January 23, 2019 Selection Panel Called Meeting
MOTION: Upon a motion made by committee member Bennett and seconded by committee
member Gilbert,the Committee voted five(5)for and none(0)opposed to accept
minutes from the January 23,2019 regular meeting as presented.
Discussion Items
3. Project Peace,Love and Be a Kind Kid
The Committee further discussed the proposed project presented at the previous meeting. The
Committee likes the idea and theming of the project,but felt the project maybe better suited for a
location at the school. The Committee would be open to a possible future public art in the
underpass with an artist utilizing student involvement to create the concept, similar to the recently

completed Windridge Park Project. The artist selection and concept design would have to meet
the requirements of the selection process and fit into the future project schedule.
4. Update on Current Projects
The Artist Selection Panel for the Allen Event Center Rotunda Project will be meeting on
February 27,2019 to interview by video conference seven semifinalists selected at the last
meeting. The group is tasked to choose three finalists. Member Carroll will attend for member
Gilbert who is unable to attend that evening.
Parks and Engineering staff met recently to discuss timing and scheduling of the Gateway project.
City staff will meet with TxDOT to further define the public art opportunities for the project.
5. Discussion on Future Projects
The possible Don Rodenbaugh Natatorium project is still being considered and discussions will
resume when current projects are further along.
