Call to Order and Announce a Quorum is Present:
With a quorum of the Committee members present, Ogden "Be" Bass called the meeting to order at 8:00
a.m. in the Council Conference Room at Allen City Hall, 305 Century Parkway.
Action Items
Agenda Item#1: Approve Minutes from Called Meetings Held on March 25, 2010 and June 2,
2010.
Motion: Upon a motion by Paula Ross and a second by Bret McCullough, the Committee
voted 5 I FAVOR and 0 OPPOSED to approve the minutes. The motion carried.
Agenda Item #2: Consider a Request to Approve the Expansion of the Existing Building
Located at 201 E. McDermott Drive for the First Baptist Church.
Tiffany McLeod, Planner, presented the request to the Committee. The applicant is proposing a 60,000
sq ft. building addition to the existing worship center. The two-story expansion is primarily for
educational space. One hundred seventy five (175) parking spaces are being added to meet the site
requirements for this budding addition Furthermore, the applicant is proposing to abandon the existing
alleyway (accessible from McDermott Drivel and Belmont Street Both will be dedicated as firelanes
through replatting.
The exterior of the proposed addition will match the existing worship center.
Staff recommends approval.
Paula Ross expressed concern over the expansion of the church.
Motion: Upon a motion by Tim Dentler and a second by Bret McCullough, the Committee
voted 4 IN FAVOR and 1 OPPOSED to approve the expansion of the existing
building located at 201 E. McDermott Drive for the First Baptist Church.
The motion carried.
