Min - Animal Shelter Advisory Committee - 2021 - 8/16 - Regular ANIMAL SHELTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE REGULAR MEETING • August 16,2021 Present: Absent: Deborah Michnick, Chair Pamela Ackerman,Vice-Chair Raymon Yarbrough, Secretary Dr.Alan Coffman Jon Toney City Secretary Shelly George City Council Dave Shafer Call to Order With a quorum of the Board members present, the Regular Meeting of the Animal Shelter Advisory Committee was called to order by Chair Michnick at 7:20 p.m. on Monday,August 16, 2021. 1. Approve Minutes of the March 24,2021 Virtual Meeting. The minutes were approved by the acclamation of the board. 2. Discuss Moving the Animal Shelter Advisory Committee Meetings from Third Monday to Third Wednesday. The meetings will be moved from the third Monday to the third Wednesday with the acclimation of the board. 3. Update on Eagle Scout projects. • Landon finished two new benches for our shelter entrance. Three more Eagle Scout projects are in the works: Addition to play yard French drain and gutters on cover New benches and picnic tables for our play yard to replace old benches that are rotting. Taking donated dog run and using the panels to split our current large play yard into two so we can accommodate more prospective adopters and meet and greets. 4. Update on addition of outside shed for donations and storage. New 8x12 has arrived and is in use 5. Receive an Update on the Agreement with Collin College for the Veterinary Technology Program Collin College to host live practical clinics for the students through partnership with Animal Services ANIMAL SHELTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE REGULAR MEETING March 24,2021 6. Receive an Update on the 2021 Clear the Shelters Campaign. On August 23rd—Sept 19th with last week(Sept 13th—19th all adoption fees waived). Sponsored by NBC and Telemundo 7. Discuss Proposed Amendments to the Allen Code of Ordinances, Chapter 3 -Animals and Fowl, and/or Standard Operating Procedures for a Trap-Neuter-Return(TNR)Program. Power point presentation presented by Jon Toney on Trap-Neuter-Return(TNR)— Motion to present item 7 was not passed 8. Plans for upcoming events and projects. Shelter tours have started. Open House and Shelter Tour Sat.Nov. 6th. Second Carter Blood Care drive on Friday Nov. 5th Yappy Hours Apartment complexes in partnership with Hollywood Feed. Educator's Expo have added Tinkers and Thinkers as well as the Library Fall Festival to the events Adjournment MOTION: Upon a motion made by Jon Toney and a second by Pam Ackerman,the Board voted five (5) for and none (0) opposed to adjourn the Regular Meeting of the Animal Shelter Advisory Committee at 9:01 p.m. on Monday,August 16, 2021.
