Min - Animal Shelter Advisory Committee - 2021 - 11/17 - Regular • ANIMAL SHELTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 17,2021 Present: Absent: Deborah Michnick, Chair Pamela Ackerman, Co-Chair Raymon Yarbrough, Secretary Dr.Alan Coffman,DVM Jessica Lockhart Call to Order With a quorum of the Board members present,the Regular Meeting of the Animal Shelter Advisory Committee was called to order by Chair Michnick at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday,November 17,2021. 1. Introduction of newest board member Jessica Lockhart. Jessica Lockhart introduced herself as the newest member filling Place 5 on the board. 2. Conduct election of officers for the 2021-2022 year. • Chair Michnick called for nominations from the Board for the purpose of electing officers. The following slate of officers was presented: Pamela Ackerman for the position of Chair. Jessica Lockhart for the position of Co-Chair. Deborah Michnick for the position of Secretary. With no other nominations offered,Chair Michnick closed the call for nominations. The officer positions were elected by acclamation of the board. 3. Approve minutes of the August 16,2021,meeting. The minutes were approved by the acclamation of the board. 4. Update on current open position for Animal Control Officer. With the resignation of Jeremiah Sanders,Animal Services has one opening to fill. The job posting is active and applications are being taken. 5. Update on Eagle Scout Projects. The current play yard was split into two(2)sections,with the addition of new fencing. Future projects include a new chicken coop, gutters and a French drain. Animal Services entered an Interlocal Agreement with Collin College where veterinary technology students will take part in hands-on labs at the shelter. Future opportunities may include spay and neuters and dentals. 7. Update on recent and upcoming events. Clear the Shelters was a success,with 58 total adoptions. Special events are slowly returning with the shelter taking part in the Library's Fall Festival,Bark in the Park at The Edge,National Night Out, Trunk n' Treat at Animal Hospital of Collin County and the Wafters Crossing HOA Dog Splash Party. The shelter also hosted the first annual Shelter Open House with 83 visitors and 7 adoptions. • 8. Discuss and Make a Recommendation to the City Council regarding Proposed Revisions to Chapter 3,Animals and Fowl,of the Code of Ordinances and/or Standard Operating Procedures. Animal Services is in the process of looking over the current Standard Operating Procedures and Ordinances for modifications and additions. 9. Adjournment MOTION: Upon a motion made by Pam Ackerman and a second by Alan Coffman,the Board voted five (5) for and none (0) opposed to adjourn the Regular Meeting of the Animal Shelter Advisory Committee at 7:59 p.m. on Wednesday,November 17,2021.
