May 10th 1962
Members present as follows: Mayor Gentry T. Jones Aldermen C.E. Ottaway,
J.C. Hefner, Talmadge L. Oxford, F. Dean Sears, & Phil Pringle.
Mr. W.E. Ford and Mr. Stephenson was also present with a petition regarding
the annexing of the Whisenant Estates property.
Motion by Mr. Ottaway that the installation of the WATER LINE as shown
on the preliminary plat for Whisenant #4 addition be permitted subject
to the presentation of the final plat within 90 days, this line to be
in accordance with item #3 of the letter to Mayor Gentry T. Jones dated
May 7th 1962 from Acrey Stephenson consulting engineers. Motion second by
Phil Pringle, motion passed. Ayes (5) Five / noes (0) none.
Motion by Phil Pringle that the original petition with the letter to
Mayor Gentry T. Jones dated May 7th 1962 from Acrey & Stephenson, consulting
engineers for Whisenant Estates on Whisenant Estates #4 addition be
accepted by the Town of Allen. Motion passed. Ayes (5) Five / noes (0) none.
This Motion was second by Mr. C.E. Ottaway.
Mr. L.V. Read was present to discuss the 2 inch Water line along STATE
Highway #5 to the Wetsel Road.
Motion was made by Mr. Ottaway to provide Mr. Read with some answer in
approximately (30) thirty days. Sec by Mr. Sears, motion passed, ayes Five,
noes none.
Motion by F. Dean Sears, EFFECTIVE AS OF JULY 1ST A.D. 1962 THAT THE
COST OF INSTALLATION ON WATER METERS BE INCREASED FROM $45.00 TO $65.00,
AND ALLOWED AMOUNT OF PIPE BE 50 FOOT INSTEAD OF 100 FOOT per INSTALLATION.
Motion second by C.E. Ottaway. Motion passed Ayes (5) Five Noes (0) none.
Discussion on the extension of the Street WEST AVE. B NORTH, north from
North 3RD Street West App. 130 ft.
Motion by Mr. Ottaway a deed describing the proposed Street annexation
be requested from Mr. O.E. Lynge. Sec by Mr. Pringle. Motion passed ayes
(5) Five / noes (0) none.
Motion by Mr. C.E. Ottaway to authorize the Mayor to spend up to
$200.00 for grading and lowering the Street West Ave. B north. sec by
Talmadge Oxford. Motion passed ayes (5) Five / noes (0) none.
Motion by Phil Pringle that we acquire the service of Mr. Orr as our
City Attorney, officially, as of June 1st 1962, and that the Mayor writes Mr.
Orr a letter to that affect. Sec by Mr. Ottaway, motion passed ayes (5)
Five / Noes (0) none.
Motion by Mr. Ottaway to pay all bills. Sec by Mr. Sears motion passed
ayes (5) five / noes None.
Discussion on the Police protection for the Town of Allen, which
seems to be inadequate at the time Police service is needed, due to
the fact the Town is not covered
at all hours of the day & night.
Mr. Ottaway moves that the Council consult Mr. Orr on the proper means
of annexing land to the Town of Allen. sec. by Mr. Sears, motion passed
ayes (5) Five / noes (0) none.
