OF THE
TOWN COUNCIL, TOWN OF ALLEN
JULY 11, 1962
Present: Mayor Gentry T. Jones, Aldermen Phil Pringle, J.C.
Hefner, Talmadge Oxford and C.E. Ottaway. F. Dean Sears absent.
Special meeting of the Town Council was called by Mayor Gentry T.
Jones in consideration of the replacement of Mr. Frank F. Haddix who
resigned as of July 11, 1962 as City Police for the Town of Allen.
Mr. Phil Pringle suggested that we get in touch with Mr. Edwin L.
Ereckson, in regard to a temporary peace officer at this time. Mr.
Ereckson recommended Mr. Ken W. Raley to act as Police Chief on a
temporary basis until such time that a permanent officer can be selected.
Mr. HALEY came to the office for an interview with the Town Council, and
upon a motion by Talmadge Oxford that the Town of Allen hires Mr. Ken
Raley on a temporary basis or as long as needed at $1.00 per hour for
his service was second by C.E. Ottaway. Motion passed - ayes (4) Four//
noes (0) none.
Mr. Raley was deputized by Mayor Gentry T. Jones
Minutes from the regular meeting of June 28th 1962 were read and approved
bills were discussed and a motion by Mr. Pringle that all bills be paid
was sec. by Mr. Ottaway, motion passed ayes (4) four / noes (0) none.
There was some discussion about buying a Tractor and Mower for the Town
of Allen.
Mr. Hefner is to check with the County about patching the road going
north out of Town, near the Expressway.
