Min - City Council - 1962 - 07/26 - RegularREGULAR MEETING OF THE TOWN COUNCIL, TOWN OF ALLEN ALLEN, TEXAS July 26, 1962 Present: Mayor Gentry T. Jones Aldermen J.C. Hefner, Phil Pringle, C.E. Ottoway, T.L. Oxford and Dean Sears. Ken Raley & Frank Chambers our City Police made a report on the police activities. The Council discussed some way to refund these officers for GAS used in patrolling our Streets. Mr. C.E. Ottoway moved that the Town of Allen pays the Police $1.50 per night, second by T.L. Oxford. Motion passed, ayes (5) five / noes (0) none. Mayor Gentry T. Jones presented a few items for the improvement of our Town, one was South Third Street - East - is very dusty. C.E. Ottoway moved that the Mayor looks into the matter of the dusty Street and appoint a committee to decide what to do. Sec by Dean Sears, motion passed - ayes (5) five / noes (0) none. Committee appointed as follows: C.E. Ottoway, T.L. Oxford and Dean Sears. SIGNS - for streets discussion tabled; this being a Lion Club project we would like to see the Lions continue with this worthy cause. Discussion about buying a tractor & mower for the Town of Allen the City of Plano has a FORD TRACTOR & MOWER for $400.00, Mr. F. Dean made a motion that we buy the TRACTOR & MOWER from the City of Plano second by C.E. Ottoway, motion passed as follows ayes (3) three -- Noes (1) one (J.C.H.) (1) one abstention (T.L.O.). Mayor Jones presented an ORDINANCE CREATING A CORPORATION COURT IN THE TOWN OF ALLEN, COLLIN COUNTY, PROVIDING FOR THE JURISDICTION OF SAID COURT, PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF A RECORDER OF SAID COURT, PROVIDING FOR THE TERM OF OFFICE OF SAID RECORDER, PROVIDING FOR THE COMPENSATION TO BE PAID SAID RECORDER, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS ORDINANCE. Upon a motion by Phil Pringle, second by Talmadge Oxford the above said ORDINANCE was duly passed and approved by the Council of the Town of Allen, on the **26 day of July, 1962. And declared an emergency. (#28) Motion by C.E. Ottoway that we consolidate all CITY FUNDS into one OPERATING FUND, second by Phil Pringle Motion passed - ayes (5) five noes none. Motion by Mr. Ottoway that all bills be paid, sec. by Mr. Pringle, motion passed ayes (5) five / noes (0) none. Motion by Mr. Ottoway that Phil Pringle submit a recommendation regarding a Zoning Board to the Town Council. Sec by J.C. Hefner, motion passed ayes (4) four -- (1) one abstention - (Phil).
