Min - City Council - 1962 - 08/09 - RegularREGULAR MEETING AUGUST 9th 1962 TOWN COUNCIL, TOWN OF ALLEN, ALLEN, TEXAS Minutes read and approved: Members present as follows: Mayor Gentry T. Jones Aldermen F. Dean Sears, Phil Pringle, C.E. Ottoway and J.C. Hefner. Absent Talmadge L. Oxford. Motion by C.E. Ottoway to pay bills, sec by Phil Pringle motion passed ayes (3) (1), One abstention - J.C.H. F. Dean Sears moved that one block on South Third Street East along the south side of the School property be oiled to keep down the dust. Second by C.E. Ottoway, motion passed ayes (3) three (1) one abstention, J.C.H. Mr. Bill LaGrone was present in regard to getting a Mercury Vapor Light on East First Street near his place. Motion made by J.C. Hefner to put a light in at Highway 2170 and East Ave. D. replacing one or more of the original lights, second by C.E. Ottoway. Motion passed ayes (4) Four / noes (0) none. Rev Leon Chumbley, H.E. Herner and G.W. Porter Jr. from the Allen Baptist Church was present, in regard to closing a 20' alley across the Church property from EAST AVE B SOUTH--- east to the property which now belongs to Fred W. Day. Motion by Mr. C.E. Ottoway that the TOWN of ALLEN give the Allen Baptist Church a deed to the above said ALLEY, from the Fred W. Day property, west to East Ave. B South, with RESTRICTIONS written in the DEED in the event that it becomes necessary to reroute SEWER Line, for repair, the First Baptist Church of Allen agrees to Reroute Sewer line at Church expense, sec by Phil Pringle, motion passed ayes (4) Four - noes (0) none Some discussion about garbage pickup Motion by Mr. Sears for the Mayor & Secretary to work out something for the secy. to get a vacation, sec. by Mr. Ottoway motion carried ayes (4) Four / noes (0) none.
