City Staff• Tim Derider, Director, Parks and Recreation Department Brian Bristow, Assistant Director, Parks and Recreation Department Carrie Cessna, Assistant Director, Parks and Recreation Department Laura Demos, Park Planner, Parks and Recreation Department Ann Marie Heiser, Recreation Services Manager, Parks and Recreation Department Jennifer Robinson, Support Specialist, Parks and Recreation Department Call to Order and Announce a Quorum is Present With a quorum of the Parks and Recreation Board present, Chair Losavio called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m. on Monday, August 10, 2015 in the Community Room of the Municipal Court and Parks and Recreation Administration Building at 301 Century Parkway, Allen, Texas. 1) Approve Minutes of the May 11, 2015 Regular Meeting Motion: Upon a motion by Member Davidson and a second by Member Vtzcatno the Parks and Recreation Board voted seven (7) for and none (0) opposed to r 1 I Parks and Recreation Board Minutes August 10, 2015 Page 2 approve the minutes from the May 11, 2015 Regular Meeting. The motion carried. 2) Approve Senior Advisory Committee Appointments The Senior Advisory Committee Appointment recommendations were presented as follows: Darlene Zumo, Clarence Carter, and Tom Cato. After a brief discussion the following motion was presented. Motion: Upon a motion by Member Cowart and a second by Member Airhart the Parks and Recreation Board voted seven (7) for and none (0) opposed to approve the appoints of Darlene Zumo, Clarence Carter, and Tom Cato to the Senior Advisory Committee. The motion carried. 3) Appointment of Ford Pool Mosaic Project Artist Selection Panel Chair Losavio appointed Member John Holley to serve on this selection panel. S) Review and Recommend Ford Pool Design Elements Elizabeth Holser, with Brandstetter Carroll Inc., updated the board on the design concept for the Ford Pool renovation. She touched on items including amenities, color schemes and layout, and then took questions and comments from the board. Motion: Upon a motion by Member Davidson and a second by Member John Holley the Parks and Recreation Board voted seven (7) for and none (0) opposed to recommend the Ford Pool design elements as presented. The motion carried. 5) Introduction of Staff Assistant Director, Carrie Cessna, introduced Ann Marie Heiser the new Recreation Services Manager. 6) Update on Parks and Open Space Master Plan Assistant Director, Brian Bristow gave the board an overview of the Master Plan Update draft. He noted that it is still a work in progress and it will be brought back to the board in the new future for further discussion. 7) Update on Park Projects a. Hillside Play Area Staff shared before and after photos and reported that positive feedback has been received from the neighborhood and the park usage has increased. b. Orchards Park Staff reported that the neighborhood is very supportive of the park and the project plans are currently in the review process. c. Windridge Park Parks and Recreation Board Minutes August 10, 2015 Page 3 1 Staff is planning an onsite fun day to encourage the neighborhood to provide input as to what they would like this park to include. d. Watters Branch Park Park Planner, Laura Demos, shared with the board highlights from the design plan recently delivered to staff by the consult. 8) Items of Interest [Board announcements regarding local civic and charitable events, meetings, fundraisers, and awards.] a) Items for Future Agendas: Master Plan Update Review, Ford Pool Fee Structure, Watters Branch Park Update b) Next Parks and Recreation Board Meeting November 9, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. with the possibility of a special called meeting in September and/or October. 9) Adjourn Tricia Losavio, Chair, Parks and Recreation Board Motion: Upon a motion by Board Member Airhart and a second by Board Member John Holley, the Board voted seven (7) for and none (0) opposed to adjourn the meeting at 8:47 p.m. The motion carried. 1 These minute pproved on the 12 day of October, 2015. / Chair S cretary H
