Min - Board of Adjustment - 2000 - 07/11 - RegularALLEN SIGN CONTROL BOARD REGULAR MEETING o JULY 11, 2000 ATTENDANCE: Board Members Present: Melanie Jones (Chair) Kenneth Harvey (Vice -Chair) Griffith Moore (Secretary) Frank Brown Board Members Absent Ray Lewis City Staff Present: Sally L Leeper, Project Coordinator CALL TO ORDER AND ANNOUNCE A QUORUM With a quorum of the Board present, the Sign Control Board was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Chairperson Jones at the City Council Conference Room, One Allen Civic Plaza, Allen, Texas. CONSENT AGENDA. (Agenda Item 1-9) 1 Approve minutes of June 13, 2000 Regular Meeting. 2. Consider renewal of Class 4 on-site temporary promotional sign for Legacy Homes located at the southeast comer of Melinda Drive and Bethany Drive in the Bethany Ridge Estates Addition. 3. Consider renewal of Class 4 on-site temporary promotional sign for Park Place Townhomes located at the northeast comer of Jupiter Road and Park Place Drive. 4. Consider renewal of Class 4 on-site temporary promotional sign for Drees Homes located at 1500 Buoy Bay Court, in the Beacon Hill Addition 5. Consider renewal of Class 4 on-site temporary promotional sign for MCA Properties located at the southeast comer of Mystic Cove and Beacon Hill Drive in the Beacon Hill Addition. 6 Consider renewal of Class 4 on-site temporary promo(ional sign for Drees Homes located at 605 University Drive in the Beacon Hill Addition. 7. Consider renewal of Class 4 on-site temporary promotional sign for Drees Homes located at 1405 Rollins in the Suncreek Addition. 8. Consider renewal for Class 4 on-site temporary promotional sign for Highland Homes located at 1409 Rollins Drive in the Suncreek Addition 9. Consider renewal of Sign Plan for internal directional signs for the Suncreek Communities. L SIGN CONTROL BOARD PAGE 2 JUNE 13, 2000 A Ms. Sally Leeper advised that the signs on the consent agenda are in good condition. MOTION. Upon a motion by Board Member Harvey and a second by Board Member Moore, the Board voted 4 FOR and 0 OPPOSED to approve the consent agenda. The motion carried. REGULAR AGENDA. 10. Consider request for Class 4 off-site temporary promotional sign for Legacy Homes to be located at the northwest comer of Trinity and SH 5. Ms. Leeper presented the request to the Board. The proponent is requesting a second off-site sign at the entrance to the subdivision. The Board has authority over the number and location of off- site promotional signs. The Board discussed the possible need for a second sign at this location. With the understanding that the proponent would be allowed a V-shaped sign at the original location at the southwest comer of Trinity of SH 5, the Board felt a second sign would not be necessary. MOTION: Upon a motion by Board Member Harvey and a second by Board Member Brown, the Board voted 4 FOR and 0 OPPOSED to deny the request for the additional off-site sign. it. Presentation by Citizen Committee for Library Bond Election Mr. John Ross, speaker for the Citizen Committee, presented a Powerpomt slide show and discussion regarding the upcoming library bond election Numerous questions and discussion followed the presentation by Board members. Barbara Buehler, Library Director, and Dale Lackey were present to answer specific questions. 12. Other Business None ADJOURNMENT MOTION. Upon a motion by Board Member Brown and a second by Board Member Harvey, the Board voted 4 FOR and 0 OPPOSED to adjourn the July 11, 2000, meeting of the Sign Control Board at 9:30 p.m. The motion earned.
