The Called Meeting of the Allen Sign Control Board was called
to order by Chairman Alexander at 7:50 p.m. on Tuesday, January
11, 1983, at Rountree Elementary School, 800 E. Main Street, Allen,
Texas.
Set a Date for Public Hearing
for Two Off -Site Sign Variances
as Requested by E. M. Wood Signs
for Murray Development Co. (Agenda Item II)
Chairman Alexander read the request into the record as follows:
"Set a date for Public Hearing for two off-site sign variances
as requested by E. M. Wood Signs, agent for Murray Development
Company."
MOTION: Upon a motion by Board Member Lewis and second by Board
Member Kirkindoll, the Board voted five (5) for and none
(0) opposed to set the date for Public Hearing on these
variance requests for Monday, January 24, 1983, at 8:00
p.m. The motion carried.
There was some discussion on the need for the Board to receive
more information on the sign variance requests that come before them.
General Discussion:
There was some discussion on the placing of park benches around
the city for advertising purposes and whether the advertising on the
back of the bench constituted a sign.

There was also some discussion on the importance of keeping the
Sign Ordinance updated.
Adjournment:
MOTION: Upon a motion by Board Member Kirkindoll and second by
Board Member Karlsruher, the Board voted five (5) for and
none (0) opposed to adjourn the Called Meeting of the Allen
Sign Control Board at 8:30 p.m. The motion carried.
