Min - Board of Adjustment - 1989 - 12/12 - RegularALLEN SIGN CONTROL BOARD REGULAR MEETING DECEMBER 12, 1989 ATTENDANCE: Board Members Present: George Chrisman, Chairman Gary Crowe Randall Leverett (arrived 7:37 p.m.) Terri Hall Board Members Absent: City Staff Present: Joseph Del Ferro, Environmental Health Inspector Sally Leeper, Secretary ICALL TO ORDER: The Allen Sign Control Board was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Chairman Chrisman at the Allen Municipal Annex, City Council Chambers, One Butler Circle, Allen, Texas. Approve Minutes November 14, 1989 (Agenda Item II) Chairman Chrisman read the agenda item into the record as follows: "Approve minutes of November 14, 1989, Regular meeting." MOTION: Upon a motion by Board Member Crowe and a second by Board Member Hall, the Board voted 3 FOR and 0 OPPOSED to approve the minutes of November 14, 1989, as presented. ALLEN SIGN CONTROL BOARD DECEMBER 12, 1989 PAGE 2 Consider Renewal Legacy Homes (Agenda Item III) Chairman Chrisman read the agenda item into the record as follows: "Consider 2nd renewal for Class 4 Temporary Promotional Sign for Legacy Homes located at 776 Livingston Drive." Mr. Del Ferro advised the Board that the sign is in good repair. MOTION: Upon a motion by Board Member Crowe and a second by Board Member Hall, the Board voted 4 FOR and 0 OPPOSED to approve the 2nd renewal for Legacy Homes. Consider Renewal Western Gulf Savings & Loan (Agenda Item IV) Chairman Chrisman read the agenda item into the record as follows: "Consider 5th renewal for Class 4 Temporary Promotional Sign for Western Gulf Savings & Loan Association located south of F. M. 2170 facing U.S. 75. Mr. Del Ferro advised the Board that the sign is in good repair. MOTION: Upon a motion by Board Member Leverett and a second by Board Member Hall, the Board voted 4 FOR and 0 OPPOSED to approve the renewal for Western Gulf Savings & Loan. Consider Renewal Bethany Plaza Shopping Center (Agenda Item V) Chairman Chrisman read the agenda item into the record as follows: "Consider 3rd renewal for Class 4 Temporary Promotional Sign for Breunig Commercial located at Bethany Plaza Shopping Center." Board Member Leverett indicated that he had viewed the sign and it appeared to be in need of paint. The Board discussed the possibility of tabling this renewal in order to allow the proponent to repaint the sign. Mr. Del Ferro advised the Board that the sign appeared to be in good condition when inspected two weeks ago. MOTION: Upon a motion by Board Member Leverett and a second by Board Member Hall, the Board voted 4 FOR and 0 OPPOSED to table Agenda Item V. L I ALLEN SIGN CONTROL BOARD DECEMBER 12, 1989 PAGE 3 Consider Renewal Allen Heights Shopping Center (Agenda Item VI) Chairman Chrisman read the agenda item into the record as follows: "Consider 3rd renewal for Class 4 Temporary Promotional Sign for Breunig Commercial located at Allen Heights Shopping Center." Mr. Del Ferro advised the Board that the sign is in good repair. MOTION: Upon a motion by Board Member Crowe and a second by Board Member Leverett, the Board voted 4 FOR and 0 OPPOSED to approve the renewal for Allen Heights Shopping Center. Other Business: Mr. Del Ferro advised the Board of the Class 4 sign permits issued during the past month. Board Member Leverett advised that the Class 4 sign located at the Bethany Tech Center on Bethany Drive is in disrepair, panels are missing. Mr. Del Ferro stated he would investigate the situation. Board Member Leverett advised that he had encountered an individual placing weekend directional signs without the proper protective vest. He stated he had questioned nearby police officers regarding this and was advised they were unaware of an ordinance requiring the reflective vests. He expressed concern over the situation. Adjourn MOTION: Upon a motion by Board Member Leverett and a second by Board Member Crowe, the Board voted 4 FOR and 0 OPPOSED to adjourn the December 12, 1989, meeting at 8:00 p.m. These minutes approved this 9th day of January , 1990.
