With a quorum of the committee members present, the regular meeting of the Public An
Committee was called to order by Chair Gilbert at 6.00 pm on Thursday, September 19, 2013 in
the Parks and Recreation Conference Room at 305 Century Parkway, Allen, Texas.
Approve Minutes from the August 20, 2013 Regular Meeting.
MOTION: Upon a motion made by committee member Bennett and seconded by committee
member Barry, the committee voted five (5) for and none (0) opposed to accept
minutes from the August 20, 2013 regular meeting as presented
2. Approve a Recommendation to City Council for a Public Art Project and Related Artist
Budget for the Future Cottonwood Creek Trail Bridge Project
Mrs. Smeby introduced Jim Waldbauer the design engineer for the Cottonwood Creek trail
project. She then reported that she, Mr. McComb, and Mr. Waldbauer recently met with the
bridge manufacturer and that they can only produce a two dimensional bronze or sheet metal
design.
Mr McComb then shared that this bridge will be in a floodplain and therefore the structure of the
railing would be a consideration for the engineering staff He then shared with the committee a

Call to Order and Announce a Quorum is Present
With a quorum of the committee members present, the regular meeting of the Public An

map of the trail showing the location of the bridge and floodplain. The group then discussed
possibly having an artist design a theme that can be used for this bridge and future bridges The
item was tabled until more information can be collected.
Approve a Recommendation to City Council for Appointments Related to an Artist
Selection Panel for the Future Cottonwood Creek Trail Bridge Project
Mrs. Smeby shared with the committee the interest fors she has received to date and also
recommended that the committee consider as Mr. Waldbauer as an ex officio member of the
panel. This item was tabled to allow committee members to review the interest fors that have
been received.
4. Call to Artists Discussion
The committee discussed the Public Art Masterplan suggests an invitational call, but once a
budget for the project is set it may he easier to determine what kind of call would be best.
