Call to Order and Announce a Quorum is Present Vice Chairman, Arm Carroll, called the meeting to order at 6:35 pm 2. Approve Minutes from the October 21, 2008 Regular Meeting MOTION: Denise Gilbert moved to accept the minutes from October 21, 2008 Regular Meeting as presented, Brad Green seconded and the Motion carried, 5 for, 0 against. 3. Election of Officers - Chair, Vice -Chair and Secretary Ann Carroll nominated Jane Bennett as Chair; Emile Carriere nominated Ann Carroll as Vice -Chair; Denise Gilbert nominated Brad Greene as Secretary. MOTION: Denise Gilbert moved to elect Jane Bennett as Chair, Ann Carroll as Vice - Chair and Brad Greene as Secretary Emile Carriere seconded, and the Motion carried, 5 for, 0 against. Public An Committee November 18, 2008 Minutes - Page 2 E4. Fire Station #5 Project Update Lori Smeby provided an update on the artist submissions and selection process. Lori indicated the Selection Panel has met twice, and out of the 26 submittals received, have identified three finalists, all of whom have out of state residency. Lori invited the Committee to join a group of Fire Department personnel, Engineers, the Selection Panel, as well as the Architect in an opportunity to meet/visit with the three finalists on Tuesday, December 9 at l Oam. The group will be meeting in the Community Room in the Municipal Courts and Parks and Recreation Building, 301 Century Parkway. It is anticipated the Selection Panel will be making their recommendation on the selection of an artist for this project in the first week of January 2009. 5. Annual Work Plan The Committee evaluated the potential art projects for the coming year to determine which projects will become the prime focus for the Public Art Committee. Along with this discussion, estimated project budgets were evaluated for the projects. The following projects were brought forward as suggestions: Entry Monument (staff recommended this item be deleted from the work plan projects) Dog Park Heritage Village Round -A -Bout Celebration Park Celebration Pass Trail Animal Shelter Signage along Hike and Bike Trails Sculpture Art at City Hall Following a brief discussion on the funding ($700,000) estimated to be available for the upcoming year's projects; the following list was developed and will be forwarded to City Council: Public Art Commitee November 18, 2008 Mmutes - Page 3 Priority I - Round -A -Bout - estimated budget $300,000-$400,000 Priority 2 - Dog Park - estimated budget $150,000 Priority 3 - Sculpture Art at City Hall - $150,000 6. Discuss Possible Criteria for Recognizing Developers Putting Public Art in their Spaces Ann Carroll reported on her internet research for similar programs in other communities, and provided information to the Committee. Ann agreed to email the links to the Committee Members for review prior to the next meeting. It was requested this item be placed on the agenda for the December meeting. 7. Set Next Regular Meeting of this Conunittee December 16, 2008 will be the next regularly scheduled meeting of this Committee. 8.
