PUBLIC ART COMMITTEE CALLED MEETING PARKS AND RECREATION CONFERENCE ROOM ALLEN,TEXAS MEMBERS PRESENT: Jane Bennett, Chair Ann Carroll, Vice -Chair Brad Greene, Secretary Denise Gilbert Emile Carriere MEMBERS ABSENT: Dave Baldwin Sharon Lakes Debbie Stout, Councilmember STAFF PRESENT: Lori Smeby, Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation Matt McComb, Landscape Architect, Parks and Recreation 1. Call to Order and Announce a Quorum is Present Chairman, Jane Bennett, called the meeting to order at 6:40 pm 2. Approve Minutes from the January 20, 2009 Regular Meeting MOTION: Following clarification on the committee's recommendation regarding future placement of public art at City Hall, Denise Gilbert moved to accept the minutes from January 20, 2009 Regular Meeting as presented, Emile Carriere seconded and the Motion carried, 5 for, 0 against. 3. Art Promotion and Recognition — Discuss opportunities of promoting or ways to encourage developers to include art within their developments in Allen. Jane Bennett provided information from Hastings, UK, Tempe, AZ and Iowa City, IA on 1 their approach to encouraging or recognizing public art in private development. The committee discussed inventorying public art in private development within the city and production of a future brochure. Public An Committee February 17, 2009 Minutes - Page 2 Lori reported that the Annual Work Plan would be taken to City Council for Consideration on March 10, 2009. The committee identified goals for each proposed project to further enhance the information being provided to the City Council. 4. Set Next Regular Meeting of this Committee With there being no critical business to discuss, the March 17, 2009 will be canceled. April 14, 2009 will be the next regularly scheduled meeting of this Committee. 7.
