1. Call to Order and Announce a Quorum is Present
Chairman, Jane Bennett, called the meeting to order at 6:35 pm
2. Approve Minutes from the April 21, 2009 Regular Meeting
MOTION: Ann Carroll moved to accept the minutes from April 21, 2009 Regular
Meeting as presented, Emile Carriere seconded and the Motion carried, 5
for, 0 against.
3. Public Art Signage — Continued discussion, form and placement of signage at public art
locations.
Lori Smeby presented research to the committee on what other public art groups are
doing in regards to signage at public art locations. Matt McComb presented examples of
what is currently used in park locations within Allen. Members discussed what wording
to use, what information to include, and what form and materials to use. Lori Smeby
utilized the internet to locate the websites of various fabricating companies so that the
committee could research each item as a whole during the process of the discussion. As a
result, the committee asked that staff research the various options and pricing for
presentation at a future meeting, and bring examples based on the preferences of the
committee if possible.

4. Staff update, Art Promotion and Recognition - Staff update on results of research
into recognition methods for public art included in Allen developments
Lori Smeby informed the committee of the results from her conversations with the GIS
division of the City of Allen Planning Department. A request has been made for an email
list of developers within Allen for the purpose of gaining knowledge of any applicable
public art pieces within current or planned developments. The GIS division informed
Lori that an interactive map to be placed on the city of Allen website is within their
capability. Lori then shared the interactive maps from other cities that her research
produced. A discussion among the members took place as each map was reviewed and
the capabilities explored as to its merits and their preferences. The committee concluded
that their preference was for a GIS or PDF map that includes a pop-up photo of the public
art, along with the location and possibly directions. It was further concluded that being
placed on this map will be sufficient recognition for participating developers.
5. Set Next Regular Meeting of this Committee - The next regular meeting of this
committee will be held on Tuesday, June 16th at 6:30 PM.
6. Adjourn
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:54 p.m.
