REGULAR CALLED MEETING

1. Call to Order
With a quorum of the Board members present, the Keep Allen Beautiful Regular Meeting was called
to order by Co -Chau Buckley at 7:10 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2001, in the Council Conference
Room at City Hall, One Allen Civic Plaza, Allen, Texas.
2. Introduction of Guests
Steve Massey introduced Tim Dentler, Parks Service Manager, and Suzan Campbell, Urban Forester
of the City of Allen Parks and Recreation Department.
3. Approve the Minutes of the January 16, 2001 Regular Meeting
MOTION: Upon a motion made by Board member Amy Smith and a second by Board member Shelia
Curtis, the Board voted six (6) for and none (0) opposed to approve the Minutes of the
January 16, 2001, Regular Meeting. The motion carred.
4. Sprine 2001 Clean Up
Discussion was held regardmg the upcoming Spring Clean Up and Arbor Day event scheduled April
28, 2001. Discussion included Parks and Recreation Department participation, volunteer
participation, flier distribution, signs and publicity.
5. Keep Texas Beautiful Trainine
Training will be delayed until Recycling Coordinator Cynthia Brightwell returns from leave.
6. Corporate Sponsorship
Discussion concluded that the timing was not right and flus item was tabled until after the Spring
2001 Clean Up event.

7. Project Updates
• Discussion of lecture series.
• Discussion of Yard -of -the -Month.
Membership Update/Winter newsletter — Kay McKenna
• Membership added one Tree -Hugger and one Helping Hand.
• Discussion of newsletter timing/distribution and pnnting
• Discussion of changes to membership form.
9. Items of Interest to the Board
• Financial report, Audrey Smyth reported that there is $13720.42 in the KAB account.
• Walraven Book Cover project is in progress.
• No progress was reported in the City of Rowlett Litter Award.
• A list of goals and accomplishments for 2000 was distributed.
• Discussion of the success of the Arbor Day event.
• School Educational Activities discussion included a possible poster art contest to replace the
current recycled art contest.
���°°° • Discussion and distribution of a preliminary letter concerning Cottonwood Creek Clean Up
• project.
Discussion and distribution of nomination forms for the Volunteer Environmental Award
Application.
• Discussion of new KAB Adopt a Highway signs that are being placed and plaques to recognize
participants with year bars, as well as Mayor recognition at Council.
10. Adjourn
MOTION: Upon a motion made by Board member Pat Buckley and a second by Board member Audry
Smyth, the Board voted six (6) for and none (0) opposed to adjourn the regular session of the
Keep Allen Beautiful Board at 8:20 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2001. The motion
carried.
