1. Call to Order and Announce a Ouorum is Present
With a quorum present, Keep Allen Beautiful Regular Meeting was called
to order by Chair Pat Buckley at 6:30pm on Tuesday, January 16, 2007 in the
Council Conference Room at City Hall, 305 Century Parkway, Allen, Texas.
2. Public Recognition/Citizens Comments/Introduction of Guests
Kirk Evan, Norton Elementary teacher, was introduced to the board.
3. Presentations
Kirk Evans presented information to the board regarding the EcoLiteracy Project
at Norton Elementary School and the opportunities it affords the students. Kelli
Walston, Kerr Elementary, was not present and the additional information
requested by the board was presented by Donna Kliewer.
MOTION: Kerry made a motion to approve $200 to fund Kelli Walston's request
for funding to purchase globes for Earth Day prizes. Motion was seconded by
Lynna with all in favor.
4. Approve the minutes of November 21, 2006
MOTION: Lynna made a motion to approve the November 21, 2006
minutes as presented. Kerry seconded the motion with all in favor.

5. Receive Financial Report/Budget
The City KAB account balance is $18,131.27 The KAB bank account balance is
$11,942.84. The increasing KAB balance is due to the Trees for Allen campaign.
Steve Massey requested that Donna Kliewer or a KAB board member be added to
the KAB account as backup in the event he was not available. Discussion of the
amount of funding KAB had approved for the Pecan Grove.
MOTION: Lynna made a motion to add Donna Kliewer to the KAB checking
account at American National Bank of Texas. Wendy seconded the motion with
all in favor.
MOTION: Wendy made a motion to fund the total expenditure of $3400 to
purchase the pecan trees for the Pecan Grove Project. Kerry seconded the motion
with all in favor.
6. Update by Parks and Recreation on Various and Upcomine Events
Susan Campbell gave the board an update on the Pecan Grove Project and the
businesses that have partnered to make it happen. She suggested that the board
hand out SmartScapes/Waterwise Landcaping seminar information at Arbor Day
and reminded the board that they will present the Arbor Day Poster Contest
winner at the celebration.
7. Update on KAB Events

* SmartScape (Waterwise Landscaping) Seminar — March 15, 7pm
* Great American Cleanup — April 21, Sam — 1 pm
* Educator's Expo — September ?, 4:30 pm — 6pm
* Allen Recycles Day — November 3, 8am — 1pm
* Rotary Holiday Parade — December 2
8. Governor's Award Project & Environmental Center
Discussion of general guidelines for the KAB Governor's Community
Achievement Award as well as Individual Awards with names suggested for each
category Pat will email the suggested names and categories to the board. Wendy
shared information about the Arbor Hills Nature Center and updated the board on
the activities of the Connemara Meadow committee. The May bond voting
process was discussed as well as the ways KAB could take part in this.
10. KAB Marketing/Branding/Website
Wendy provided the board with information about the progress of the AISD high
school marketing department. A Senior program, Marketing Yourself, will
complete the project for KAB.
12. Items of Interest to the Board
A thank you note from Erin Chastain -Harris was read to the board. Wendy
brought information about the Volunteer Center of North Texas open house on
January 31. Discussion of what KAB might want to update and maintain on a
web page. Pat gave a short history of the KAB web site and the future possibilities
of this site. Discussion of what drew board members to the KAB board and what
they wanted to accomplish on the board.
13. Adjourn
The regular session of the Keep Allen Beautiful Board was adjourned at 9:05pm
on Tuesday, January 16, 2007
