KEEP ALLEN BEAUTIFUL COMMITTEE
FIRST MEETING
MARCH 18 , 1997

With the above members present, the first meeting of the Keep Allen Beautiful Committee was opened.
Melissa Owen was selected as the Chair for this committee. Edie McMillion volunteered to do the minutes,
agenda's and schedule the meeting room. All other members agreed to do their share as a Task Force for targeting
areas of the City that need to be cleaned.
Our first order of business was to introduce ourselves and give an overview of our reason for being on the
committee and how our jobs could help with the business of keeping Allen beautiful.
The committee went on the establish some of the goals that they would like to see the committee achieve. They
are listed below-
• Establish a Board/Commission to oversee keeping Allen beautiful.
a. Suggestions for representatives for the Committee included members of the AISD, Business
Community, Builders/Developers, Chamber of Commerce, Allen City Council and a member from
the residential Community Neighborhood Integrity program such as "Yard of the month "
• Booth at the Annual Spring Fest to help raise money as a non-profit campaign to help Keep Allen Beautiful.
• Establish a program for the "Clean Builder of the Month."
• Establish a program for the "Clean Business of the Month."
• Work hard on educating the public and getting volunteers to help Keep Allen Beautiful.
The next meeting of the Keep Allen Beautiful Committee will be on March 12, 1997, at 10:00 a.m. in the
Conference Room at the Municipal Annex. The meeting adjourned at 12:00 p.m.
