SPECIAL CALLED WORKSHOP MEETING
OCTOBER 1, 1997 - 7:30 P.M.

Call to Order
(Agenda Item 1)
With a quorum of the Board present, the Keep Allen Beautiful Special Called Workshop meeting
was called to order at 7:32 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1, 1997, in the Lake Side Club House, Bethany
Lakes Park.
Logo and T-shirt Discussion (Agenda Item II)
Edie explained about the three (3) different stores that the T-shirts came from. She explained
that she thought the shirts should have the logo and words embroidered because it looked better, even
though it would cost more. The Board like the shirt from Squeegee's (Bay City Link) and they want the
color to be denim. Audrey said that Squeegee's said these shirts should hold up well. She had not ask
about shrinkage, but she will check. Edie got each persons shirt size.
Edie asked if they wanted the flag on the logo the Board said yes they did. Beverly wanted to
know if the logo was going to be exactly as Phillips print out. Audrey told them that Squeegee's could
not do the Bluebonnet, but could do the recycling arrows and the small red flower. A motion was made
and second to select the Keep Allen Beautiful Board logo with the City of logo (A with Flag) and inside
the A would be a red flower. Also, instead of City of Allen wording it will say Keep Allen Beautiful on
one line (in blue) and the logo would only be two colors red and blue. Audrey will be in charge of
getting T-shirts for the Board.
Standing Committee Reports (Agenda Item III[)
Lonnie Simmons --- Reported that he had received the Chamber labels and catalog from Edie.
He was processing his letters and flyer to go to the business community He will take mailouts to Edie
for the postage. He may require copies being made Edie said she could help him.
Heidi Smalley --- Has contacted all the Environmental Chairs and told them about the Keep
Allen Beautiful Board. She has provided all of them with the Hotline number. They have been advised
to contact us if they have any questions.

Beverly Wortham --- She will be getting assistance from Melissa to get flyers out to the
Chamber and other businesses and possible solicit for some donations.
Sandy Sanders --- Sandy will be contacting the neighborhood associations and getting flyers to
them. She will have to contact Twin Creeks, Watters Crossing, Beacon Hill and Sun Creeks. She will
get contact numbers and names from Heidi and Audrey
Melissa Owen --- Will work on her assignment with Phillip. They will be contact the business
and industry community
Work Duties for 11/15/97 Event
(Agenda Item I)
All members went over the action plan list. It seems that everyone is doing a great job of
getting their work done. At this rate we should have a great event.
Miscellaneous
(Agenda Item V)
Dennis Han from the Allen Environmental Action League introduced himself and gave a quick
overview of how he assigns work areas. He implied that it was not a hard job but we know how
important this job is to this clean up.
Edie brought the article for the Allen Image. Melissa is going to take it to the Image so it will
be in their next mailing. Edie also processed the purchase order for $985.00 for the ih page ad.
