1. Call to Order and Announce a Quorum is Present
With a quorum present, Keep Allen Beautiful Regular Meeting was called to
order by Chair Pat Buckley at 6:45pm on Tuesday, March 20, 2007 in the Council
Conference Room at City Hall, 305 Century Parkway, Allen, Texas.
2. Public Recognition/Citizens Comments/Introduction of Guests
None
3. Presentations
None
4. Approve the minutes of February 20, 2007
Minutes were not available.
5. Receive Financial Renort/Budget
The City KAB account balance is $16,171.35. The KAB American Bank of
Texas account has not been updated but contains the Trees for Allen deposits of
$9,450.
6. Update by Parks and Recreation on Various and Upcoming Events
Susan Campbell was not present. Donna Kliewer informed the board about the
SmartScapes seminar and the plans for wildflowers and City landscape sites for
the summer.
7. Update on KAB Events
* KAB training — AAR and discussion. Pat Buckley and Dan Jenkins reported to
the board about the KAB
training. Discussion of a 3 — 4 hour workshop for the board to finish the goals
and objectives discussed at
the training; summer months of July 176 or early August were suggested.
* Trees for Allen — AAR. Discussion of the success of the Trees for Allen
campaign and successful Arbor Day
planting of the Pecan Grove.
*SmartScape ( Water wise Landscaping) Seminar — AAR. Discussion of the
successful presentation and the
positive response from participants. The next public education event will be
the Water Fair that will take
place during a Summer Sounds concert in May or June.
* Great American Cleanup — April 21, 8am — Ipm
* KTB Conference — July 10-13, San Antonio
* Educator's Expo — September ?, 4:30 pm — 6pm Date will be determined based
on the AISD school
schedule.
* Allen Recycles Day—November 3, Sam— 1pm
* Rotary Holiday Parade — December 2
8. Governor's Award Project & Environmental Center
Discussion of importance of planning and ideas for implementation before these
events happen. Encouraged
board members to visit Environmental Centers.
10. KAB Marketinp/Branding/Website
Donna brought the board up to date on the progress of the AHS team.
