Call to Order and Announce a Quorum is Present With a quorum present, Keep Allen Beautiful Regular Meeting was called to order by Vice -Chair Patricia Buckley at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, September 21, 2004 in the First Floor Council Conference Room at City Hall, 305 Century Parkway, One Allen Civic Plaza, Allen, Texas. 2. Introduction of Guests No guests were present. 3. Approve Aueust 17, 2004 Minutes MOTION: Motion made by Ron Wheless to approve August 17, 2004 minutes as they stand. Synne Ferguson seconded the motion. Minutes were approved with all in favor. 4. Financial Report/Budget Current balance in KAB checking account is $8,078.25. Current balance in KAB City account is $24,000. 5. Parks and Recreation Update Susan Campbell presented information about the Texas Urban Forestry state convention, Texas Tree Trails, historic trees, TUF license plates, wildflower planting, and plans for the Arbor Day Celebration at Stacy Ridge Park. Susan shared plans for the Celebration Park tree planting funded by KAB as an Eagle Scout project and urged KAB members to become more active in the delivery of trees during the Trees for Allen program. KAB Events • Educator's Reception AAR The reception was very well received with approximately 100 people attending the event. Suggestions received included holding the event in a carpeted area, have a microphone and mini presentations by each participating table. All surveys were positive in their feedback. • Harvest of Harmony — October 30 By acclamation, KAB voted to donate $100 to the Harvest of Harmony in lieu of participating. • Allen Recycles Day — November 6 Discussion of plans for Allen Recycles Day • Christmas Tree Recycling —December 27—January ? Discussion of new mulch/compost facility and hours of operation. • Set date for April Clean Up Discussion of moving Clean Up event to the fourth Saturday in April instead of the third Saturday By acclamation, KAB voted to hold the event on April 23, 2005. 7. Old Business No old business was discussed. S. Items of Interest to the Board • Discussion of the Heritage Guild's Historic Village project and the landscape design that is in progress. A request for KAB to donate money to purchase perennials for the gardens as a cooperative project with others in the community was made. MOTION: Dan Jenkins made a motion to donate $100 to the Allen Heritage Guild to purchase perennials for the gardens. Synne Ferguson seconded the motion, with all in favor. Pat Buckley, a member of the Allen Heritage Guild, abstained from the vote. 9. Adjourn The regular session of the Keep Allen Beautiful Board was adjourned at 8:05 PM on Tuesday, September 21, 2004.
