Sue Berryloined the meeting at 7:18 p.m. 4. Parks and Recreation Guest Ed Steinkamp made a presentation to the Board on his troop's request/plan for Screech Owl or Kestral birdhouses to be built. After completion of this project, Cub Pack 780 would receive their World Conservation patch. The troop has checked into information from the local Heard Raptor Resource & Rescue Facility and found the project requires 1 plank of cedar wood per mt. Each Scout would build one and have Susan Campbell of Parks & Recreation Department put them up. Upon completion, the troop hopes to have an environmental reduction in pests and greater environmental appreciation. This action is under consideration from KAB Board. Because of Susan Campbell's (Allen's Urban Forester) absence, her report was done via Donna Kliewer. The report indicated there will be pink, yellow, and white cosmos (flowers) at Allen Station Park and KAB could assist with this project later this coming autumn. 5. Financial Report/Budget Donna mentioned there is a little over $8k in KAB's budget and we are financially able to pass out informational, promotional and educational items at the Summer Sounds Concerts throughout the month of June. Expenditures will include an upcoming Allen Teacher's Reception for August or September. The Trees for Allen sale held earlier this year made KAB $1,000.00 profit and plans are to extend the sale from January through March of 2004 Currently, KAB's bank account is over $6K, an exact figure will be available next month 6. AISD Progress & Programs Synne Ferguson reported on AISD Progress & Programs: The time for an appreciation reception was limited for this year so the consensus was to wait until September before we had a reception. Ideas mentioned were: Bringing teachers cookies during their work week prior to the 1" day of school and certificates of appreciation for the ReUse-A-Shoe campaign. Synne Ferguson noted the Pizza Hut store manager, John, at Bethany & Greenville was very helpful in providing pizzas. Noted, more pizzas are needed for next year's winners and possibly having a trophy or plaque for the 1" and 2nd place classrooms. Discussion was made concerning KAB's role in presentations to Allen City Council. Suggestions are to have a few rehearsals for power point presentations prior to any council presentations and/or pre -planned arrangements for receiving line protocol. Synne Ferguson expressed her concern and apologized for overlooking the assistance of Allen Garden Club. 7. KAB By -Laws KAB Bylaws were not voted on for final approval due to Mary Fritache having the only final revision. Item to reviewed at the next meeting. 8. KAB Events AAR for KAB's Great American Trash Off: A Port -O -Pot (potty) was definitely needed for any future events. Susan Bernard mentioned success of this year's event was completed by hard work from the County Constables and wanted to thank them with a wall plaque or free meal for ajob extremely well done. A motion was made to have three $25.00 dollars gift certificates given to each County Constable and a plaque created for Bob Bell, Pct. 3 (Constable's Supervisor). Motion passed unanimously. Letters of thanks will be sent to Judge John Payton and County Commissioner Ron Harris, and all others involved. Corporate Challenge scheduled for June 5, 2003 at Bethany Lakes Park.
