Call to Order (Agenda Item I)
With a quorum of the Board present, the Keep Allen Beautiful Regular
meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m., on Tuesday, November 21, 2000, in the
Council Chambers Conference Room at City Hall, One Allen Civic Plaza.
Introduction of Goes ta (Agenda Item II)
No guests or visitors were present at the meeting.
Approve the Minutes of the October 17. ZOOO Regular Meeting (Agenda Item III)
Everyone reviewed the minutes from the last meeting. The Board voted four
(4) for and none (0) opposed; the minutes were approved.
Wildflower/Tree Planting Ceremony -October 21.20M (Agenda Item IV)
Discussion of Wildflower ceremony held on Saturday, October 21, 2000 at
Allen Station Park. Wildflower and tree planting were successful with citizen
participation.
November 115000 Texas Recycles Day Recap (Agenda Item V)
Discussion of event and possibly moving neat year's event to August.
Discussion of rental of Ford Park for the clean up. Hot dogs and free swim in the
pool would follow the clean up. Committee wanted to research dates and costs for
having 2001 event at Ford Park
Proieet Updates (Agenda Item VI)
♦ Membership- Kay McKenna reported no new memberships since the last
meeting.
♦ Newsletter, The newsletter is still in progress and has been delayed due
to the holidays.
♦ Lecture series at Bethany Lakes Park Club House has been rescheduled
for sometime in 2001 with Elmer of True Value as guest lecturer.
Items of Interest to the Board (Agenda Item VII)
♦ In the Financial Report Audrey Smyth reported to the board that there
was $14,355.25 in the KAB outstanding balance. The invoices for the tree
planting totaled 53,070.35 with some money remaining.
♦ Promotional Item Purchases Update -Promotional items purchased out of
last fiscal year's budget funds.
♦ November 29, 2000 City of Allen Boards and Commissions dinner held at
El Dorado Country Club and was attend by KAB members.
♦ December meeting- KAB Board voted to cancel December meeting due to
the holidays.
♦ Corporate Sponsorship Discussion- Discussion of Parks and Recreation
obtaining corporate sponsorships for parks in the City of Allen. Board to
table discussion and devote one of 2001 meetings to discussion of
strategies.
♦ Christmas Tree Recycling Dates planned for January 2-5, 2001 and
January 8-12,2001.
♦ Walraven Book Covers design for 20014)002 school year not needed until
end of January, 2001; school contest to design cover postponed until next
school year. Committee recommended book covers be made from
recycled paper.
♦ Brief Discussion of Allen Christmas Parade; participation to be on a
individual basis this year.
