L The June 3, 1997 Allen Public Library Board meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m by Board
Chair, Fritz Dietrich. Members present were John Ross, Rhonda Grigg, Donna Various and Cart
Williams. Also present was Library Director, Barbara Buehler. Frank Snidow arrived late as per
notification.
IL Donna Vanous moved to approve the minutes of the May 6, 1997 meeting as amended and the
May 20, 1997 special meeting as amended. John Ross seconded the motion. Motion carried.
ILL Buehler reported that no comments or suggestions were deposited in the suggestion box last. The
monthly statistical report for May was distributed to the Board for review
IV. Buehler discussed the items from the May - June summer program calendar and the Teen
Dreams summer reading club. She also reported that the Young Writers workshop, lead by Karen
Morrell, started June 2.
VII. a. New Parents as Teachers has proposed providing a parenting library, which will be added to
the library collection
b. Lam Bush has responded to an invitation for the library's thirtieth anniversary celebration
c. Rhonda Grigg reported that the sign installed at Story Elementary School cost $4,500.
it Fritz Dietrich reported on the progress of the City Hall Committee.
VOL The meeting was adjourned at 9.30 p.m.

V. Buehler provided registration forms for the June 16's NETLS meeting and asked that members
planning to attend return the completed registration to. by J. 6. She also reported that there
are tura openings on the NETLS Advisory Council.
VL Buehler submitted a draft of the executive summary of the library survey to the Board for review
The Board appmved presenting the executive summary and recommendations to the City
Council.
