The March 1998 Allen Public Library Board meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Board
Chairperson, Fritz Dietrich Members present were John Ross, Rhonda Grigg, Joe Defenderfer,
Mary Vail-Grnbe, and Frank Snidow Also present were Library Director Barbara Buehler and
Friends of the Library representative Wilma Smith.
H. The Board reviewed the minutes of the February 3, 1998 meeting. J. Ross moved to approve the
minutes. F Snidow seconded the motion. Motion carned
HL Suggestions received by the Library were reviewed by the Board. All of the suggestions were
being addressed by Library Staff. The statistical report for February 1997/1998 was reviewed by
the Board.
IV. B. Buehler presented information fmm the Northeast Texas Library System meeting held in
Mineola on February 18, M Vail -Grebe discussed the Volunteer workshop she had attended in
early February.
V. An overview was provided of upcoming events to be sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
The Friends of the Library are sponsoring a community event entified The Landscaping
Revolution on April 20 at the Library. Suzette Davis will become the new president of the
Friends after the April 20" meeting
VL The impact of the upcoming bond sale on the Library was discussed. A portion of the bond
money has been designated for the conceptual design of the library expansion B. Buehler
discussed the current plans for the new City Hall configuration with the Board. Additionally, the
Library has submitted proposals to the 4B Sales Tax Board requesting funding for materials, a
technology center, a van and mmote book drops and software.
VIL Further discussion on the Libmry fired solicitation plan took place B Buehler will pull together
these ideas into a proposal for the Board members to begin evaluating.
VHL There were no additional items of interest brought up in flus meeting.
