Min - City Council - 1966 - 07/21 - RegularREGULAR MEETING CITY COU&CIL, CITY OF ALLEN, TEXAS July 21, 1966 Present : Gentry T. Jones, Mayor Aldermen: Dan Strong, Zack Robinson, R.B. Whisenant, Ken Posey Absent: Bill Enloe Present, J. D. Buckhannan & Walter Hicks. Mayor Jones explained to the council that the $100,000.00 received from the sale of land had been placed in the Allen State Bank with interest at rate of 4 3/4 per cent per annum. The remaining $3,501.80 was deposited in the City of Allen operating fund. Motion by Dan Strong that we name Hwy #5 that goes through Allen city limits, Greenville Ave. Second by Ken Posey, Passed 4 ayes, noes 0. A fire works and dog ordinance will be drawn up by the city attorney, Alex Orr, and these will be put into effect soon. Mr. Jones explained to the council that one lagoon at the sewer is almost filled, Mr. Hicks told the council some of the ways to remove the slush from the lagoones. Motion by R.B. Whisenant that if we can get on lagoone cleaned out for $400.00 to have the work done. Second by Dan Strong. Motion passed, ayes 4 noes 0. Mr. Buckhannan stated the issuance of waterworks system revenue bonds in the amount of $200,000.00 bonds to handle the Lavon water. Motion by Ken Posey that we authorize Mr. Hicks to go ahead and apply for the Federal Grant, and rewrite the application and get signed by the Mayor. Second by Dan Strong, motion passed ayes 4 noes 0. Disucssion about undedicated streets, North 4th Street East and South Second Street East, and what to do about them. Mr. Leon Ussery was asked to make audit of city books. Motion by Zack Robinson that a representative of T.P.&L Company be present at the next council meeting night that we might discuss our electrical service. Second by R.B. Whisenant, motion passed, ayes 4 noes 0. Mr. Gene Ereckson was present to ask the council for a raise in salary. The council reported to Mr. Ereckson this would be considered. Order a load of summer hot mix, barrell of water proofing and mow the Rail Road. Meeting adjourned. These mintues read and approved this the 4 day of August 1966.
