CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF ALLEN TEXAS
AUGUST 4th 1966
Present : Mayor Gentry T. Jones -- Aldermen, Raleigh B. Whisenant,
Ken Posey, Dan Strong and Zack Robinson
Absent : Bill Enloe.
Mr Newell and Mr Floyd , from the Texas Power & Light Co. was here
too show the Council some of the checks they had made on the Voltage
at different locations in the Town of Allen, however the Voltage did-
not check to be low. These gentlemen stated ,they would like too know
of any complants so they might check anything that might come up.
Mr Robert Lowman and Edd Lynge were visitors .
Mr & Mrs J.D. Smith, T.H. Ereckson and Leland McJunkins was present to
talk about a place for the Little League Ball Teams too play ball.
Discussion, about a lease, if we could find a track of land that could
be leased that was sutibable for a Ball Park, Mr Smith states 'it
would take App. $ 2,200.00 too light the field if we found a place.
Mr Robert McDowell was present , representive from the R R to
discuss WARNING SIGNAL LIHGTS for the crossing on First Street.
Motion by R.B. Whisenant that the City of Allen accept the recommen-
dation of the Rail Road and State High-way department, in that the
RR and State Hi-Way pay for and install WARNING SIGNAL LIGHTS at
RR Ave AA and (1st) First Streets, and that City of Allen will install
Stop Signs at RR (Ave AA) South (2nd) Second. It is to be understood
that the Stop Sign on South (2nd) Second is a stop gap measure and
that the City of Allen desires adequat Signals on South - Second and
will strive in the future to obtain them.
Motion second by Ken Posey. Motion passed ayes (4) Four - noes (0) none.
Mr Betts of Betts and Smith Engineers was present, Mr Betts
recomend that we have a Goverment Representative meet with the Council.
Mayor Jones - talked about the future water supply for the City of
Allen and some of the ways we might strengthen our present supply,
also that Mr Hicks is working on the Sewer Grant.
Motion : by R.B. Whisenant to run water line to Robert Shaw, if
Robert Shaw and O.B. Grant will both put-up $65.00 Meter taping
fee. Motion second by Zack Robinson, Motion passed Ayes 4 noes 0.
Mr Earl Young was in to'South 3rd Street East dedicated and
fixed.
Motion: by R.B. Whisenant to get Mr Orr too check out who ownes
what on South 2nd Street East, Write these people letters and get
this Street fixed. Sec By Ken Posey, passed ayes (4)Four-noes (0) none.
Motion by Ken Posey to have John Enloe haul some rock and
fill in the holes on South 3rd Street East. Sec. by R.B. Whisenant
Motion passed ayes (4) Four -- Noes (0) none.
Notes: write Mr Walter F. Hicks and Mr J.D. Buchanan, Jr. to
be present at next Regular meeting.
