Min - City Council - 1966 - 10/06 - RegularRegular Meeting City Council, City of Allen October 6, 1966 Present: Mayor Gentry T. Jones Aldermen: Dan Strong, Zack Robinson, R.B. Whisenant, Ken Posey Absent: Bill Enloe Present: Walter Hicks, Eng.; J.D. Buckhanan, Jr. Bond Rep.; Alex Orr, Attorney; W.E. Ford; Wallace Harris. Pete Ford request the city write the board of Insurance Commission, Austin, Texas, for new rating for the City of Allen, giving them the change of name of streets and let them know we have fire plugs, fire truck, fire marshall and a volunteer dire department. Mr. Wallace Harris asked the council if he could get water to his property on Lebanon Rd. If so would the city apply for a permit to go under Hwy #75. Mr. Walter Hicks and the city council made a study of the contract with the City of Plano regarding the sewer. Our attorney Alex Orr is to rewrite and make corrections in contract that is to be sent to Plano. Mr. J.D. Buckhanan, Jr. was here to discuss the bond issue for the sewer and water. Mr. Buckhanan said it would take approximately 60 days to get the bond issue through. (.90 of the $1.00 tax money to make bond payments after the bonds are issued.) Motion by Dan Strong for Mr. Buckhanan to prepare the bond issue with the maximum amout on revenue bonds. Second by Zack Robinson, motion passed, ayes 4, noes none. Motion by Dan Strong to approve the bill presented by WIsenbaker, Fix, and Associates, Engineers to be paid when money is available. Second by Ken Posey, motion passed, ayes 4, noes none. Motion by Dan Strong to pay bill presented by Secretary. Second by R.B. Whisenant, motion passed, ayes 4, noes none. Motion by R.B. Whisenant, to accept Ordinance #63 annexing territory belonging to the First Methodist Church of Allen, Texas. Second by Zack Robinson, motion passed, ayes 4, noes none. Motion by R.B. Whisenant that we hire Aaron Sandidge as City police, have him bonded, and pay same salary as George Martin. Second by Dan Strong, motion passed, ayes 4, noes none. Motion by Ken Posey to purchase police radio if price does not exceede $145.00. Second by R.B. Whisenant, motion passed, ayes 4, noes none. Meeting adjourned.
